Work with this material starts from the age of four when the child has been working with the first psycho arithmetic materials and knows how to count to 10, knows the names and quantities associated to the numbers 1 to 9. The specific aim of this material, used in combination with the numeral tablets 1-1000 (MA26-A or MA26-B) is to get to know the quantities from 1 to 1000, presented in their hierarchy. The golden beads are particularly precious because generally they have a triple value: arithmetic, geometric and algebraic.

From the age of 3 years the number rods get the child acquainted with the numbers from 1 to 10 through linked units: each rod corresponds to a number on the corresponding card (MA19), and the units are clearly shown by the sequence of blue and red segments. The child can thus control the error by counting the units. This material also introduces the child...

Working with these boards enables the child to memorize the results of additions and subtractions of small numbers by repeating the exercise. In addition the vertical line engraved between 10 and 11 shows the key passage through the 10. On the subtraction board this line is engraved between 9 and 10 and emphasizes the need to first take away the units...

This material can be used when the child has already worked with many psycho arithmetic materials and has a good knowledge of the decimal system and operations with big numbers and is acquainted with the hierarchies. This board has been developed to extract the square root of big numbers in a pleasant and fascinating way. It also allows to make many...

The big bead frame is to be used after the small one (MA12). The goal is to accompany the child towards abstraction: from the analysis and operations with real quantities to those with positional numeration, according to the decimal system. Whereas the small frame allows to work with numbers up to the thousands, this one goes up to the millions.

This material, to be used from the age of 5 onwards, allows the child to immediately catch the concept of multiplication and division by simply handling concrete objects and also makes clear how the two operations are one the inverse of the other. By repeating the exercise, it also allows to progressively memorize the results of simple multiplications...
