Description

A black cotton strip, rolled around a beechwood pin. The fabric is 46 meters long, representing 4.6 billion years of geological history. At the end of the black stripe is a 2 cm length of red fabric, representing the life of the human species on Earth. Period and era markers, in the official colors of the International Commission on Stratigraphy, are applied along the entire length of the fabric.
