Language Materials

The Montessori approach considers the learning of language as a long and complex road. This road will carry through various phases corresponding to temporal periods when the child is inclined to different acquisitions (sensitive periods). As from its first months, the child absorbs its mother tongue from the environment thanks to its innate predisposition (“nebular” energy). Then, through practical life and working with sensorial materials, the child will develop the capacity to make fluid movements and start to write. By guiding the hand with the language materials the child will approach reading and continue developing its intellectual activity with more advanced materials.
