Four solid wooden blocks carefully shaped so as to allow the child to carry it by itself. Each block has ten cylindrical holes to fit in the same number of cylinders made of the same solid wood with handy knobs. The four blocks offer an increasing level of difficulty. That is why they are to be used in progression, as the child proceeds in its learning process. USE IN COMBINATION WITH OTHER MATERIALS This material is often used in combination with the coloured cylinders (SE22) because the mobile elements have the same size.
This rich material can be used from the age of 18 months until at least 6 years. It facilitates freedom of choice and concentration. Moreover it is designed to sharpen various abilities: gross and fine motoric skills, eye-hand coordination, visual perception through the education of sight with reference to dimension. It also develops the seriation ability and offers the child important keys to understand the environment expressed on various levels, including the logical-mathematical level. Moreover it prepares indirectly for writing through carrying out the work from left to right and learning the correct grip that will help the child to correctly hold the pen when starting to write.
